We visited Wieliczka in December and immediately changed our minds from doing the wedding in Charlotte. The venue was just too amazing to pass up. The mine itself was active since the 13th century (almost 700 years) and was only recently closed and converted into a historic site. The mine has thousands of rooms and is almost 200 miles long. Many of the rooms have been carved into large banquet halls and most of them contain statues and carvings done by the mines over the years. The areas of the mine will will be using are completely finished and amazingly lit. You will not be disappointed when you see it. Make sure you check all the pictures below to be convinced that this trip is not something you will want to miss.
The salt mine itself is listed as one of the original Unesco World Heritage Sites, and you can see the history and artwork in the site in this video:
